Stumps

early on i saw your nature
a rabbit at heart i knew
despite your utterance to the contrary
you forced my hands to action
even though your aid
was hardly required

to show you, only one way
came to this twisted mind
binding you a temporary measure
futile in your mind and desired
the pleasure all yours at my expense
could not last. nor would it.

tethered to my side, i throttled you
taking the run from your mind
and the ability from your soul
once crumbled to your knees
you were finished with your freedom and folly
at your own expense

clipped at the wings, no longer in flight
your bloody soles matching my knifes precision
you can not run, for steps are impossible
on these stumps i left you
tethered to my side, the unwilling captive
of my illness embraced as our own

as the stillness settles in
on your unplanned internment
i leave you only stumps for you to hobble
to your place on your knees before me
no longer embattled with your desire
to flee, removed by force as a necessary evil
